ICF CERTIFICATION

ICF COACHING CERTIFICATION IS AN INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION ISSUED BY THE INTERNATIONAL COACH FEDERATION.

The ICF is the world's leading coaching federation in terms of membership.
A guarantee of seriousness and professionalism, it validates the acquisition of the coach's 11 skills and distinguishes 3 levels of expertise:
  • Associate Certified Coach (ACC), which corresponds to the validation of an ACSTH or ACTP accredited training, at an ACC level observed according to the ICF standard and 100 hours of practice.
  • Professional Certified Coach (PCC), which corresponds to the validation of an ACTP accredited training, at an ACC or PCC level observed according to the ICF standard and 500 hours of practice.
  • Master Certified Coach (MCC), which corresponds to the validation of an accredited peer-reviewed training and 2500 hours of practice.

It should be noted that the final validation of the certification is provided by ICF following a QCM which must be carried out online in order to validate your level of knowledge on the 11 skills (70% of correct answers will be required).

THE 11 SKILLS

THE 11 SKILLS OF THE COACH ACCORDING TO ICF

1Respect ethical guidelines and professional standards.
2Establish the coaching contract: understand what is required and agree with the new client on the coaching procedures and relationship.
3Build a climate based on trust and respect.
4Create a spontaneous relationship with the client through open, flexible and reassuring communication.
5Listen carefully to what is said and what is not said and encourage the client's personal expression.
6Ask relevant questions that reveal the necessary information.
7Practice direct and indirect communication.
8Be able to accurately integrate and evaluate multiple sources of information and provide suggestions that help the client achieve the objectives set.
9Co-create opportunities for continuous learning, during coaching sessions and daily situations, in order to undertake new actions that will generate the desired results as effectively as possible.
10 Plan and set objectives.
11 Be able to focus on what is important to the client and let them take responsibility for their actions.

ACC REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of an entire ICF Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP). Check for your program’s approval below.
  • A minimum of 100 hours (75 paid) of coaching experience with at least eight clients following the start of your coach-specific training. At least 25 of these hours must occur within the 18 months prior to submitting the application for the credential.
  • Completion of the Coach Knowledge Assessment (CKA).

PCC REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of an entire ICF Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP). Check for your program’s approval below.
  • A minimum of 500 hours (450 paid) of coaching experience with at least 25 clients following the start of your coach-specific training. At least 50 of these hours must occur within the 18 months prior to submitting the application for the credential.
  • Completion of the Coach Knowledge Assessment (CKA).

MCC REQUIREMENTS

  • 200 hours of coach-specific training.
  • 10 hours of Mentor Coaching over a minimum of three months. Your Mentor Coach must be an MCC in good standing. This cannot be the same Mentor Coaching that was applied toward a previous ICF Credential application.
  • A minimum of 2,500 hours (2,250 paid) of coaching experience with at least 35 clients, following the start of your coach-specific training.
  • Performance evaluation (two audio recordings and written transcripts of coaching sessions).
  • Currently holds (or previously held) a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) Credential.
  • Complete the Coach Knowledge Assessment (CKA) unless previously passed when applying for ACC or PCC.
